Golden Turmeric Latte

Ingredients:

1 cup hot water

1/4 cup unsweetened almond/coconut/cashew milk (I used Califia unsweetened vanilla almond milk)

2 scoops collagen peptides (I used Vital Proteins)

1 tsp turmeric (I used Suncorefoods)
1 tsp maca powder (I used Navitasorganics)
1 tsp mushroom powder (I used Om)

1 tbsp coconut butter (I used artisanaorganics)
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp raw honey
& a pinch of black pepper

Directions:

1. Blend all ingredients in your blender for about 2 minutes

2. Pour in your favorite mug

3. Sprinkle cinnamon on top

4. Enjoy!

For the longest time I tried to avoid making lattes from scratch mostly because I was afraid they wouldn't turn out well. However, I finally decided to give it a shot when I realized I had all the ingredients I need and the best latte is one that consists of all my favorite superfood ingredients! 

The black pepper in this latte is key because it helps to activate the turmeric. What does it really mean when we say black pepper “activates” turmeric? Well I did a little bit of research and learned that piperine is a compound found in back pepper that prevents further breakdown of turmeric in the gut & liver (two very important elimination organs) and therefore allows higher turmeric levels to be absorbed by our body! 

I'll be quite honest with you guys, this recipe definitely earned 100% in my book and I'll be making it a lot more often from now on. Give it a try!
